21 Day Fix Diet Daily Tally Sheets

Well I am super excited to start the 21 Day Fix diet system.  Anyone who knows me knows I have put on weight and taken it off many many many times in my life.  After this holiday season I am literally sick of eating and I can't wait to start the new system.

I have created these check off sheets to use.  I am going to laminate them and mark them off daily with either dry erase markers or dry erase crayons to make sure I am not eating too much or little. :)

NOTE: The equation for figuring out your calorie level is.

1. Your Current Weight (ex. 150) x 11 = Baseline

2. Baseline + 400 (Fix Calorie Burn) = Calorie Needs

3. Calorie Needs - 750 = Calorie Target (download you will need)

Disney Frozen Curtains Made From Twin Flat Sheet Love Blooms Design

I have been doing this almost forever in my house turning the flat sheets which my daughter will not use into curtains for her bedroom.  I usually will just sew a rod pocket at the top of the sheet, but being that winter is coming I decided to sew these over top of white heavy curtains I already have.  They look great with the purple curtains she already had hung.

I started with the Disney Frozen Love Blooms sheet set.  It has a very beautiful light purple color to the sheet.  My daughter like most of the kids on the planet loves Frozen!

I liked the design at the bottom of  the sheet so I decided to measure how long I would need the sheet and cut the fabric that was not needed off at the top of the sheet.

I based the length I would need based on the length of the current curtains (which were staying up) and the two curtain panels I was sewing the sheet to.  I then added 1/2" to that length because the sheet will needed to be folded slightly.

Cutting

As soon as I figured out how much sheet could be removed I cut off the excess sheet at the top.
I was left with a 66" x 27" scrap piece I will use to do other crafts like pillows, tie backs, etc...

I then folded the sheet in half and cut the whole length.  It left me with two 33" (about) pieces.  These will be stitched to the curtain.

Sewing

I folded over the long side that was cut and ironed about 1/4 inch all the way down the sheet to keep it neat while I sewed it.  I sewed down the whole length with a sewing machine.

I then folded 1/2 inch at the top and ironed it to keep it neat during sewing.  I found the top middle of the curtain and the middle of the sheet lined them up and put a few pins across to keep them together.  I then sewed the whole thing across binding the curtain and the sheet together.

I repeated for the other sheet / curtain.

Within an hour I had new curtains that will match my daughters sheet set!  Of course she loves them!  :)

Snowman Hand Soap Dispenser

My daughter loves this so I decided I would share!

I just took a white bottle of hand soap and I removed the stickers.  I was going to remove all the sticky residue but then decided to just rub a cotton ball over residue.  This gave the dispenser a nice fuzzy feel and texture and it is no longer sticky.

I then just free handed the bow, scarf, eyes and mouth on with glitter glue and let them dry.

I was going to paint the nose on but I just decided to use an orange pom pom glued on with liquid adhesive.

Now we have a cute snowman soap dispenser for the bathroom!

Butterfly Candy Cane Ornaments

This year our theme for our living room is Merry and Bright.... and I mean bright.  We decided to do the bright colors this year and I must say I am loving it!   We are doing butterfly and owl accents and while I was organizing my craft supplies I found these butterfly beads.  I thought wow they would make pretty cool butterfly ornaments for the tree... and I was off making ornaments (AND NOT CLEANING!  shhhhhh don't tell my husband) .......

It is super easy to make these kinds of ornaments and you can do it with the kids too...

All you need for this project is pipe cleaners and beads how simple is that!

You simply slide a bead on the pipe cleaner and bend the end of the pipecleaner over about half way up the bead.

Then you just continue to add the beads.  I changed the direction of the wings with every bead.

When you get the the end you just bend the pipe cleaner over again and shape like a candy cane.  It is as simple as that!  They will look amazing with the Christmas tree lights twinkling.

Sunflowers in Glass Vase with Flameless Tea Light Candle

I had these glass vases on my mantle that I wanted to put sunflowers in but every time I put sunflowers in the vase they seem to just clump onto each other and did not look very cute.  I looked around the house for some ideas on how to get them to stand up inside the vase and look pretty.  I found a water bottle and the wheels started turning..... I gathered up my supplies and ...

Supply List
Glass Vase that is see through (diameter big enough to fit water bottle in)
Water Bottle
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun / Glue Sticks
Artificial Sunflowers with stems removed (I used 5)
Flameless Tea Light Candle

I cut the top off the water bottle just at the top so you can put the tea light in later.  (for a smaller vase you can cut the water bottle to size)

Let the hot glue gun warm up while removing the stem connectors from the artificial sunflowers.

Add glue to the back of the sunflower and stick it to the water bottle.  I started at the bottom and worked my way up.

Continue up to the top of the water bottle.  I only did one side because I am putting on the mantle and I wanted to be able to see the tealight glow.

I then put in a flameless tea light candle

Carefully stuff the bottle into the vase.  You can even crush the backside of the bottle if needed it will fix itself once in the vase.

Finished Product!  It would probably look better in a clear or lighter vase but I have purple and yellow accents in my livingroom so this is gonna me it for me :)

In darker room you can see the light coming through (photo really doesn't show how pretty it is)

I added a candle to the top and it is ready for the mantle!

You can easily just dump out the tea light to turn it on and off or you can remove the whole bottle.  Being that these vases are a always on my mantle I may use this same technique to make my Christmas mantle.  I will be doing a butterfly tree this year so maybe I will put butterflies in it....... the wheels are turning again OH NO....

The Rainbow Pumpkin by Christina Tucker (age 5)

My five year old daughter loves making picture books. I usually scan and store them on the computer or I would have books all over. I decided to use Shutterfly and make this one into a playable photobook.  She is going to love it.  I should set her up with an account and show her how to do it, because as much as she loves to draw she loves to use the computer.

The issue I have run into is that the photo book is 20 pages long and her book is not.... hmmm gonna have some blank pages.  She will still love it.

Photo Book Tip: Create an adventurous travel photo album at Shutterfly.com.

Halloween BAH BOOBUG (Bah Humbug)

I am just not that into Halloween this year.  I did not attend any of the Fall harvest festivals that my husband took my daughter to.  Which is surprising because this is my favorite time of the year.  I was actually thinking about how I could carve my husband when he returned with 3 pumpkins to be carved.  Last year we spent Halloween on vacation and we spent the day at the Crayola Factory so we did not do a lot of decorating the house or pumpkins.  I usually try to do something crafty.  In 2012 I attempted Rarity from My Little Pony (which my daughter loved) and we even made a haunted gingerbread house.

This year all I could muster up is carving 3 small pumpkins and spooky candles.  For the pumpkins my daughter just drew faces and I carved them out.  As I was secretly cursing my husband :).  They came out cute and my daughter loves her creations.  We even lit them up with some real tea lights.

As far as costumes go, thank goodness my daughter already had an Anna (Frozen) dress because we would probably not even have a costume for her.  I am usually ready for Halloween a year in advance. :)  I don't think we are even going to give out candy this year.  BAH BOOBUG!
